Data Analytics PhD Scholarship Opportunity with Triathlon Australia and the Australian Institute of SportExpressions of interest are invited for a PhD Scholarship ‘top up’ to an existing Research Training Program (RTP) scholarship student, or equivalent University scholarship recipient, to be embedded within Triathlon Australia (TA) located on the Gold Coast, and supported by the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS). The proposed stipend top up will be $5,000 per annum for three years which will be provided to the student’s University. Additionally, the AIS will provide operational funds of $1,000 in the first year, and $2,000 per annum in the subsequent two years.The PhD study will be focussed on the collection, coordination, management and analysis of performance data, emanating from Triathlon Australia’s high performance environment. The PhD study or studies will use performance data to distil unique knowledge about improving and optimising human performance in an internationally competitive environment.The student will be a high calibre individual, gifted in data analytics, maths, statistics, computer science or equivalent. The student will need to demonstrate a fascination for the use of data in all its forms to improve human performance, and understand the challenges of operating in a high performance environment. It is expected that the student will be able to locate to the Gold Coast. Overseas travel funded by Triathlon Australia to training camps and competitions is also an expectation.Expressions of interest close on Friday 29th March, 2019.
