The AIS is responsible for leading and enabling a united high performance system that supports Australian athletes to achieve podium success. The AIS Operations team provides the organisational platform enabling the AIS to implement impactful and competitive advantage sports science sports medicine services to the High Performance (HP) system. The team also supports the AIS Director through the management of AIS business functions and works collaboratively with AIS Site Services to maintain operations across the AIS campus in Canberra.We have an exciting opportunity to join the AIS as a Junior Sport Specialist with a Biomechanics specialty. In this role, you will work within the AIS Performance Services team to support servicing to designated HP camps, priority projects and associated activities as part of a multidisciplinary team at the Canberra campus. This role will suit someone looking for growth and development in HP Sport, as you’ll be working under the guidance of Senior Sport Specialist in Biomechanics and industry mentors. You’ll be a keen learner, as you will also participate in a learning and development curriculum specific to your specialisation and individual requirements. Our preferred candidate will have experience working within the Australian HP system and a strong desire to contribute through the provision of high quality sports science sports medicine support. In addition to the above, our successful candidate will have:Tertiary qualifications in sports science/human movement at PhD level with demonstrated experience working in a high performance sport biomechanics environment. Experience working with multiple sports and across the athlete development continuum will be highly regarded.Registration (or equivalent) as an accredited sport scientist.Demonstrated capacity to manage competing demands, and to work both independently with minimal direction and interdependently as part of a multidisciplinary team.Well-developed communication skills, including the ability to analyse, report and translate complex information to diverse stakeholder groups.Note:This position requires a clearance/s to work with children which is an essential component of this role and therefore to continuing employment.
